By the middle of the afternoon yesterday, the temperature was 95° — it was 97° by 4 p.m. — but the forecasters swore the high today would only be 88°, and they're telling us that it will be 81° on Friday. In between it will be back in the 90s.

But around 5 p.m. or so, some rain came through the area. After it left, the temperature tumbled into the low 80s. It was below 80° before sundown.

Last night's low was supposed to be 73°. It was 72° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 18327 and 18328. Yesterday's reading was 18303. My consumption was 24½ kWh. That is an increase of more than 22% compared to the previous 24 hours, but it is almost 8% lower than this day last year.

Yesterday was another hot day, but I can't say for sure how hot it got because I was away from home for nearly all of it.

The radio said it was 96° when I left the office late in the afternoon. It was 78° when I got up this morning.

Revised forecasts are saying the temperature won't get into the 90s this weekend, then it will warm up for most of next week, then it will be back in the 80s by Friday. We'll see.

This morning's meter reading is 18303. Yesterday's reading was 18283 so my consumption was 20 kWh. That's nearly 25% lower than my consumption in the previous 24 hours, and it is nearly 26% lower than my consumption on this date a year ago.

Yesterday was a lot like the day before — and like today probably will be. But the forecasts say the weekend will be better. A cool front is expected, which won't exactly make it cool, just cooler.

As I was driving home yesterday, the radio said the temperature was 96°, but it had been 98° earlier. The low last night was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 18283. Yesterday's reading was between 18256 and 18257 so my consumption in the last 24 hours was 26½ kWh, precisely the same as the day before and nearly 12% lower than this day in 2013.

Yesterday was another hot day, with highs in the upper 90s. I spent most of the day indoors so I don't know exactly how high the temperature went, but it was in the mid–90s when I left the office.

There is a sameness to the weather at this time of the year. It is almost always hot during the day — the radio said it was 95° when I left the office, but I am quite sure it was a few degrees warmer than that at the hottest point of the day. I just didn't have an opportunity to enjoy it.

The nighttime lows are — supposedly — in the upper 70s, but those moments must be few and far between because it always seems to be in the 80s when I get up, even if it is still dark outside (which it usually is when I get up on weekdays). It was 79° when I woke up this morning.

This morning's meter reading is 18230. Yesterday's reading was 18209 so my consumption in the last 24 hours was 21 kWh. That is more than 28% lower than my consumption in the previous 24 hours, and it is 25% lower than my consumption on this day a year ago.

Labor Day was very warm, in the mid–90s, possibly even upper 90s. According to forecasts, that is what we can expect all week.

The forecasts have been calling for lows in the mid– to upper 70s this week, but it was 80° when I got up this morning.

This morning's meter reading is 18209. Yesterday's reading was 18177. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 32 kWh. That is a decrease of about 3% compared to the previous 24 hours, and it is precisely the same as last year.

The last day of August was warm — mid–90s — but it dropped below 90° around sunset.

The first week of September doesn't look like it will bring an immediate change. The forecast calls for highs around 95° and lows in the mid– to upper 70s. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 18177. Yesterday's reading was 18144. Consequently, I used 33 kWh in the last 24 hours. That is nearly 25% higher than my consumption in the previous 24 hours, but it is more than 13% lower than my consumption on this day in 2013.
