December 31, 2014

The temperature got into the 40s for awhile yesterday, but mostly it was in the 30s.

The low last night was expected to be 30°. It was 34° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20353 and 20354. Yesterday's reading was between 20300 and 20301. My consumption was 53 kWh.

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

December 30, 2014

The temperature was in the 50s yesterday. That is something the forecasters say we won't see again for awhile.

A cold front is expected to come through the area tonight and bring sub–freezing temperatures. Last night's low was expected to be 34°. It was 41° when I woke up. Tonight's low is expected to be 27°.

This morning's meter reading is between 20300 and 20301. Yesterday's reading was between 20269 and 20270. Consumption was 31 kWh. That is nearly 35% lower than the previous 24 hours.

December 29, 2014

The temperature got into the upper 40s yesterday, and the 50s are projected for today, but then a cold front is supposed to come through, bringing a chance of freezing rain on New Year's Eve.

Last night's low was supposed to be around 31°. As it turned out, that was the temperature when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20269 and 20270. Yesterday's reading was 20222. Consumption was 47½ kWh in the last 24 hours. That is about 30% less than the day before.

December 28, 2014

It is possible, I suppose, that the temperature rose to the 50s yesterday, but I doubt it. I spent most of the day indoors. It was nippy whenever I went out, and it was made colder by a brisk wind. I had no desire to spend much time outside.

The low was supposed to be in the 30s, and I'm sure it was. After all, it was already in the 30s when I went to bed.

This morning's meter reading is 20222. Yesterday's reading was 20154. Consumption was 68 kWh. That is nearly seven times my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Therefore, I can conclude that:

1) We didn't reach 50° yesterday, and

2) No one is living below me. Otherwise, I would benefit from their heat. Clearly, I am not.

December 27, 2014

Yesterday was the last day (according to forecasters) that we will see temperatures in the 60s for awhile.

It was supposed to drop into the 30s last night, and it may have. It was 41° when I woke up.

The forecast for the next several nights calls for lows in the 30s.

This morning's meter reading is 20154. Yesterday's reading was 20144. Consumption was 10 kWh, about one–third lower than the previous 24 hours.

Friday, December 26, 2014

December 26, 2014

Christmas Day started a bit chilly, but it warmed into the 60s by the afternoon, and the skies were mostly clear — a few clouds but nothing that seemed likely to cause problems.

The overnight low was supposed to be in the upper 40s. It was 51° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 20144. Yesterday's reading was between 20128 and 20129. Consumption was 15½ kWh. That is more than two–thirds less than the previous 24 hours.

Thursday, December 25, 2014

December 25, 2014

I think it may have warmed up for awhile yesterday, but it quickly cooled off after dark and was expected to be in the 30s overnight.

The temperature was 35° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20128 and 20129. Yesterday' reading was 20079. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 49½ kWh.

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

December 24, 2014

It was much cooler yesterday than it was the day before — low 50s at best for awhile and overcast all day. In fact, it rained yesterday morning.

Last night's low was expected to be in the 30s. I don't know if it got that cold. It was 42° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 20079. Monday's meter reading was 20033 so I consumed 46 kWh over the last two days. That's an average of 23 kWh a day.

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

December 23, 2014

The sun finally came out yesterday, and the temperature rose to the 60s, then it dipped back into the 50s after nightfall.

The forecast suggested that the temperature would be in the mid–40s last night, but it was in the low 50s when I woke up.

It is also raining, and traffic reports indicate that things are sluggish along my route to work so I don't think I will be able to check my meter this morning. I'll have to read tomorrow and estimate what my consumption has been over two days.

Yesterday's reading was 20033.

Monday, December 22, 2014

December 22, 2014

I heard yesterday that we've had overcast conditions for five straight days now. They've kept temperatures in the 40s and 50s. I think we probably got into the 50s yesterday, and it was supposed to stay in the 50s overnight. It was probably around 50° when I woke up.

This morning's reading is 20033. Yesterday's reading was between 20011 and 20012. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 21½ kWh. That is a drop of about 56%.

Sunday, December 21, 2014

December 21, 2014

This morning's meter reading is between 20011 and 20012. Yesterday's reading was between 19962 and 19963. Consumption was 49 kWh, nearly double my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Saturday, December 20, 2014

December 20, 2014

Yesterday's high temperature may have reached the low 50s, but I doubt it. I think it probably stayed in the 40s all day.

The low last night was expected to be in the 40s. It was 43° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19962 and 19963. Yesterday's reading was 19937 so consumption was 25½ kWh. That is about 20% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Friday, December 19, 2014

December 19, 2014

I suppose it was a little warmer yesterday than it was the day before — but it was probably cooler last night than it was the night before.

I'm guessing the temperature warmed into the low 50s for awhile yesterday, but it fell back into the 40s, where it was supposed to stay last night. The skies have remained overcast, which tends to keep temperatures fairly stable. There is talk of rain today.

Last night's low was predicted to be 43°. It was 46° when I woke up.

The weather continues to affect the quality of the picture, but today's meter reading appears to be 19937. Yesterday's meter reading was 19905 so consumption was probably 32 kWh. That is about 3% higher than the previous 24 hours.

Thursday, December 18, 2014

December 18, 2014

The temperature stayed in the 40s all day, and there was rain. We needed it, but it always messes up traffic.

Last night's low was expected to be around 40°. It was 43° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19905. Yesterday's reading appeared to be 19874. Consumption was 31 kWh. That is about 10% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

December 17, 2014

The temperature may have reached 50° yesterday. In fact, I'm sure it did — for awhile. But mostly I think it was in the 40s.

Then last night it was supposed to dip into the 30s. It was 44° when I woke up.

It is overcast this morning so the meter is hard to read, but it appears to be 19874. Yesterday's reading was between 19839 and 19840. That would make consumption 34½ kWh in the last 24 hours. That is more than double my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

December 16, 2014

The temperature got into the 60s for awhile yesterday afternoon, then it dropped into the 50s, which appears to be what we can expect in the foreseeable future.

Last night's low was supposed to be in the low 40s.

This morning's meter reading is between 19839 and 19840. Yesterday's reading was between 19823 and 19824. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 16 kWh, an increase of more than 45%.

Monday, December 15, 2014

December 15, 2014

Yesterday was another mild day, with highs in the upper 60s, possibly lower 70s, but it was overcast, even rainy, much of the day, and a cool front is supposed to move into the area this week.

Last night's low was expected to be around 51°. It was 58° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19823 and 19824. Yesterday's reading was between 19814 and 19815. My consumption was 11 kWh, 69% higher than the previous 24 hours.

Saturday, December 13, 2014

December 13, 2014

The temperature actually reached 70° in some spots in north Texas yesterday. Mostly, I guess, it was in the upper 60s.

Last night was expected to be mild, with a low in the mid–50s. It was 60° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading appears to be 19808. Yesterday's reading was 19802. Consumption was 6 kWh, 9% higher than the previous 24 hours.

Friday, December 12, 2014

December 12, 2014

Last night's low was expected to be 52°. I don't know if it got that cold. It was 58° when I woke up.

The photo is hard to read because it is overcast this morning, but this morning's meter reading is 19802. Yesterday's reading was between 19796 and 19797 so my consumption in the last 24 hours was 5½ kWh. That is 59% lower than the day before.

Thursday, December 11, 2014

December 11, 2014

I think the temperature stayed in the 50s yesterday. It may well have reached into the 60s for awhile. I honestly don't know.

Last night's low was supposed to be around 50°. It was 53° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19796 and 19797. Yesterday's reading was 19783. My consumption was 13½ kWh so I suppose the temperature did get into the 60s yesterday. Consumption went down nearly 13%

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

December 10, 2014

The fog finally cleared yesterday morning, but the temperatures mostly remained in the 50s. It is possible temperatures got into the 60s for awhile, but it was briefly.

Last night's low was expected to be around 40°. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19783. Yesterday's reading was between 19767 and 19768. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 15½ kWh, which is 38% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

December 9, 2014

The forecast yesterday fell a little short, I think. It was supposed to get into the mid, possibly upper, 60s, but I think it stayed in the 50s all day.

But what do I know? I was indoors most of the day.

Last night's low was supposed to be in the low 40s. It was 42° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19767 and 19768. Yesterday's reading was between 19742 and 19743. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 25 kWh.

Monday, December 8, 2014

December 8, 2014

Yesterday was about 20 degrees cooler than the day before. Highs probably topped out in the 50s.

This morning's meter reading is between 19742 and 19743. Yesterday's reading was 19722. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 20½ kWh, more than double my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Sunday, December 7, 2014

December 7, 2014

The temperature rose into the 70s yesterday. It felt almost hot by comparison to what we have had — and what we apparently will have next week. They say it will be in the 50s today.

Last night's low was expected to dip below 50°. It was 47° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19722. Yesterday's reading was 19713. Thus, my consumption in the last 24 hours was 9 kWh. That is 80% higher than my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Saturday, December 6, 2014

December 6, 2014

The temperature warmed into the 70s yesterday. It was still overcast — we even had some drizzle throughout the day — but it was unseasonably warm.

The temperature was supposed to drop to 51° last night. It was 54° when I got up.

This weekend should be cooler. Today's forecast calls for a high around 63°. Tomorrow's high is expected to be in the 50s, then it should be mostly around 60° during the days next week.

This morning's meter reading is 19713. Yesterday's reading was 19708 so my consumption in the last 24 hours has been 5 kWh. That is nearly 17% lower than my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Friday, December 5, 2014

December 5, 2014

The skies remained overcast, but the temperature rose into the 60s yesterday, and 70s are expected today.

Last night's low was expected to be 50°. It was actually 57° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19702. Yesterday's reading was between 19691 and 19692. That means consumption was 10½ kWh, a drop of around two–thirds compared to the previous 24 hours.

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

December 3, 2014

Yesterday was mostly overcast, but it was a little warmer — up into the 40s — than it was the previous day. Today's high is expected to be near 60°.

Last night's low was expected to be in the 40s. It was 50° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19691 and 19692. Yesterday's reading was between 19659 and 19660. My consumption was 32 kWh, roughly one–third lower than the previous 24 hours.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

December 2, 2014

The sky was overcast most of the day yesterday, and the temperature hovered in the upper 30s.

Last night's low was expected to drop to around 30°, then reach the mid– to upper 40s today. They say we'll be back in the 60s tomorrow. It was 33° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19659 and 19660. Yesterday's reading was 19611. Consumption was 48½ kWh. That is nearly six times my consumption of the previous 24 hours.

Monday, December 1, 2014

December 1, 2014

Yesterday was another warm day, with temperatures approaching 80°. We can expect highs in the 40s today and tomorrow, forecasters have been saying.

Last night's low was expected to be about 44°. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19611. Yesterday's reading was between 19602 and 19603. My consumption was 8½ kWh, same as the day before. I expect it will be higher over the next couple of days.

Sunday, November 30, 2014

November 30, 2014

Yesterday was extraordinarily mild for late November. The temperature got up to the upper 70s during the day. It was windy but, otherwise, very pleasant.

It didn't get very cold last night, either. The low was expected to be in the lower 60s, but I'm not convinced it got quite that cold. The temperature was 67° when I woke up.

But the forecasters say colder weather is on the way. It should be colder tomorrow and Tuesday, then a modest warming trend will take over for the remainder of the week.

This morning's meter reading is between 19602 and 19603. Yesterday's reading was 19594. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 8½ kWh. That is a little more than 6% higher than my consumption in the previous 24 hours, and it is 32% lower than this day a year ago.

Saturday, November 29, 2014

November 29, 2014

The temperature rose to the upper 60s yesterday. It may have even cracked 70° at one point. I don't know.

Last night's low was expected to be around 54°. It was 57° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19594. Yesterday's reading was 19586 so consumption in the last 24 hours was in single digits — 8 kWh. That is nearly 61% lower than the day before.

Friday, November 28, 2014

November 28, 2014

The daytime high was cooler than it has been lately — but still very pleasant for this time of year, and the forecast suggests it will be even more pleasant this weekend.

Yesterday's high was probably about 60°, maybe a degree or two higher or lower, and today's high is supposed to be in the upper 60s. Weekend highs should be in the 70s.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 30s. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19586. Yesterday's reading was between 19565 and 19566. Consumption was 20½ kWh. That is not quite 5% lower than my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Thursday, November 27, 2014

November 27, 2014

Yesterday was much the same as the day before. The temperature was in the 60s, the sky was sunny, and there was little, if any, wind.

Last night's low was expected to be in the 30s. it was 39° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19565 and 19566. Yesterday's reading was 19544. That means consumption in the last 24 hours was 21½ kWh. That is about 2% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

November 26, 2014

There is a definite weather pattern here these days. During the daylight hours, it has been sunny. It was kind of windy earlier in the week, but the wind seems to have died down.

Overnight lows have been around 40°, give or take. And last night's low was supposed to be 40°. It was 46° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19544. Yesterday's reading was 19522 so consumption in the last 24 hours was 22 kWh. That is 10% higher than my consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

November 25, 2014

As expected, the high yesterday was in the low 60s.

Last night's low was predicted to be in the upper 30s. It was 37° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19522. Yesterday's reading was 19502. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 20 kWh. That is nearly 43% higher than the previous 24 hours.

Monday, November 24, 2014

November 24, 2014

The sun came out and warmed things up yesterday. The temperature was in the 70s.

Last night's low was expected to be in the low 40s. It was 45° when I woke up — cold enough for the heat to kick on occasionally during the night.

This morning's meter reading is 19502. Yesterday's meter was 19488 so consumption in the last 24 hours was 14 kWh, which is nearly 65% higher than the previous 24 hours.

Sunday, November 23, 2014

November 23, 2014

Yesterday was very mild, bordering on cool. Temperatures stayed in the 60s all day, as nearly as I could tell. It was supposed to rain all day, but the rain didn't begin until mid–afternoon.

Then the temperatures overnight were expected to be in the 50s. It was 55° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19488. Yesterday's reading was between 19479 and 19480. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 8½ kWh, which is more than double my consumption in the previous 24 hours. As a reminder of how volatile weather around here can be, though, it is more than 82% lower than my consumption on this date last year, when temperatures were near freezing.

Saturday, November 22, 2014

November 22, 2014

Yesterday was an overcast, drizzly kind of day. It warmed up to around 70°, but the sun never really came out.

Last night's low was expected to be 63°. It was 60° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19479 and 19480. Yesterday's reading was between 19475 and 19476. Thus, consumption in the last 24 hours was 4 kWh. That is more than 27% lower than the previous 24 hours, and it is nearly 47% lower than this date in 2013.

Friday, November 21, 2014

November 21, 2014

It's amazing how different the temperatures are at the end of this week compared to the beginning of this week.

Back then, we were dealing with temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the teens.

Last night's low apparently dipped into the 50s — it was 59° when I woke up. Today's high is expected to be around 70°, and tonight's low is expected to be in the upper 50s again.

The big challenge this weekend looks like it will be rain. We can use it, but it always messes up traffic so an all–day rain (which is what is currently being predicted) is likely to have that kind of effect.

This morning's meter reading is between 19475 and 19476. Yesterday's reading was 19470. That means consumption is back in single digits again — 5½ kWh.

Thursday, November 20, 2014

November 20, 2014

The gradual warming trend took us into the 60s yesterday. More of the same is expected through early next week.

Last night's low was expected to be 44°. It was 43° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19470. Yesterday's reading was 19449. Consumption was 21 kWh. That is nearly 45% lower than yesterday so consumption levels are dropping. But it is still three times my consumption level of this date in 2013.

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

November 19, 2014

The gradual warming trend appears to be in effect here. Yesterday's temperatures were in the mid–50s, and today's temperatures are expected to be around 60°.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–30s. It may have been that cold at some time during the night, but it was 44° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19449. Yesterday's reading was 19411. Thus consumption was 38 kWh. That is moving in the right direction. It's about 29% lower than yesterday, which reflects the warmer temperatures, but it is still more than five times my consumption of a year ago.

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

November 18, 2014

Yesterday was cold but sunny. The temperature probably got into the low 40s before it began dropping. The forecast suggests that it will be a little warmer each day (and night) this week, with temperatures in the 60s by the weekend.

Last night's low was supposed to be 25°. The temperature was 30° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19411.Yesterday's reading was reading is between 19348 and 19349. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 62½ kWh.

Monday, November 17, 2014

November 17, 2014

They say that temperatures will be warmer by midweek. I hope so because there was talk of snow around here yesterday. There was even a dusting of it on my truck.

Last night's low was expected to be in the 20s. It was 26° when I woke up. (I hate it when they're right.)

This morning's meter reading is between 19348 and 19349. Yesterday's reading was between 19291 and 19292. Consumption was 57 kWh.

Sunday, November 16, 2014

November 16, 2014

The temperature got into the 40s yesterday, then dipped back into the 30s overnight. It was 39° when I woke up, which may be the closest we get to 40° today. Tonight's forecast currently calls for a slight chance of rain and/or snow with a low of 29°.

This morning's meter reading is between 19291 and 19292. Yesterday's reading was 19244. Consumption was 47½ kWh, which is nearly 17% lower than the previous 24 hours, but it is nearly eight times my consumption on this date last year.

Saturday, November 15, 2014

November 15, 2014

Yesterday was another day of temperatures that stayed mostly in the 30s.

Last night's low was expected to be below freezing, but it was 39° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19244. Yesterday's reading was 19187. That means consumption was 57 kWh. Somehow my consumption went down roughly 4 kWh, but I am now more convinced than ever that there is no one living below me right now. I hope someone moves in before the truly cold weather of December and January arrives.

Friday, November 14, 2014

November 14, 2014

The cold weather is supposed to gradually ease off over the next few days. The forecast says we will be back in the mid–50s by Wednesday, possibly the 60s by Thursday.

In the meantime, though, it's 30s at night and 40s in the day. Last night's low was expected to be 24°, but it was 30° when I woke up.

I'm having some weird kind of problem with my digital camera this morning. I just took photos of my meter, but, when I tried to upload them, the computer said they had already been uploaded — but they are nowhere to be found on my computer! Perhaps it is a problem with the cold temperatures.

I am convinced that no one is living below me. When I have had a downstairs neighbor in the cold weather, I benefit from their heat — just as they will benefit from my air conditioning in the hot months.

This morning's meter reading is 19187 (you'll just have to take my word for it). Yesterday's reading was 19126. That is 61 kWh — almost entirely to heat this tiny apartment. I was at home all day because the garage was looking at my truck so I worked from here all day. That required me to use my computer. But nothing else that required electricity was used.

Thursday, November 13, 2014

November 13, 2014

Yesterday was bitterly cold compared to the temperatures to which we have become accustomed.

If the high yesterday ever got higher than 40° or 41°, I am unaware of it. And last night's low was expected to be around 30°. It was 31° when I woke up.

I don't think anyone is living in the unit below me because my utility use has skyrocketed with the plunging temperatures, and that doesn't happen when I can benefit from my downstairs neighbor's heat.

This morning's meter reading is 19126. Yesterday's reading was between 19078 and 19080. I used 46½ kWh, and I wasn't home at all for about 10 hours.

November 12, 2014

The cold weather has descended upon the area, and temperatures are not expected to rise into the 50s until next week.

In the meantime, we can expect low to mid–40s during the day and around 30° at night.

Last night's low was expected to be 30°. It was 34° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19079 and 19080. Yesterday's reading was 19052. That is 27½ kWh — just from keeping the apartment warm overnight. I won't even bother to calculate the percentages. Suffice to say it is more than four times my consumption level of the previous 24 hours, and it is probably at least that much compared to this day last year.

The temperature got close to 80° yesterday, but forecasts suggest we won't get close to that again for awhile. A cool front moved into the area last night, and they're talking about nighttime lows in the low 30s (even upper 20s) and daytime highs in the 40s.

Last night's low was expected to be 42°. The temperature was 43° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19052. Yesterday's reading was 19046. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 6 kWh. That's about 14% lower than the previous 24 hours and about 25% lower than this day in 2013.

Yesterday was warm but windy with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.

Last night's low was expected to be about 50°. It was 52° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19046. Yesterday's reading was 19039. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 7 kWh. That is more than 7% higher than the previous 24 hours, and it is the same as this day in 2013.

November 9, 2014

It was overcast much of the day yesterday. I am quite sure the temperature never got above 68°. It should be a little warmer than that today.

Last night's low was supposed to be around 50°, I think, maybe a little lower. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 19039. Yesterday's reading was between 19032 and 19033. Consumption was 6½ kWh. As low as that is, it is still more than 44% higher than the previous 24 hours, and it is 18% higher than this date a year ago.

I don't believe yesterday's temperature got out of the 60s, and last night's low was in the 40s. It was 46° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 19032 and 19033. Yesterday's reading was 19028. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 4½ kWh. That is 10% lower than my consumption in the previous 24 hours, and it is nearly 44% lower than this day in 2013.
