June 30, 2015

The temperature was back in the mid–90s yesterday. Hot and humid, as predicted.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 73° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24789 and 24790. Yesterday's reading was 24761. My consumption was 28½ kWh.

June 29, 2015

Yesterday was a few degrees warmer than the day before. I don't know how much warmer, but I do know the temperature rose into the 90s.

Last night's low was predicted to be in the low 70s, but we're looking at mid–70s for the rest of the week. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24761. Yesterday's reading was between 24728 and 24729. My consumption was 32½ kWh.

June 28, 2015

They said the temperature would be milder yesterday than it has been — and I suppose it was, although not by much, maybe a few degrees, and the humidity more than made up for it. I didn't see the temperature anywhere, but my guess was that it was upper 80s, maybe 90° or so, with a heat index that probably boosted the stress a few degrees.

Last night's low was expected to be 71°. It was 72° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24728 and 24729. Yesterday's reading was 24704. My consumption was 24½ kWh.

June 27, 2015

Yesterday was another day in the 90s, but today may be different. A storm came through the area last night, supposedly driven by a cool front, and temperatures today are expected to be in the 80s. Still warm — just not quite as warm.

Last night's low was still expected to be in the mid–70s; the temperature was actually 75° when I went to bed. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24704. Thursday's reading was between 24649 and 24650 so my consumption over the last two days has been 54½ kWh. That averages out to 27¼ kWh per day.

June 26, 2015

As predicted, temperatures have been in the 90s all week. When I left the office yesterday, the radio reported a temperature of 93°, and I'm sure it must have been in the mid–90s at the warmest point of the day. More of the same is expected today, but a cool front is expected to keep temperatures in the 80s during the weekend.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid– to upper 70s. It was 80° when I woke up.

I'm having trouble with my aging camera this morning; I'll try again tomorrow. Yesterday's reading was between 24649 and 24650.

June 25, 2015

Yesterday was a typical Dallas day in June. The sky was mostly clear — a handful of clouds dotted it, but, otherwise, it was a clear sky. And the temperature was in the mid–90s, although the heat index made it feel like it was 100°. I guess the conditions even fooled one of the bank clocks, which actually did read 100° on my drive home.

And it cools off slowly around here, taking its time even after the sun goes down. It was still around 90° when the sun went down last night, which meant a heat index around 94°. We haven't had much rain lately, but the rain we got last month more than made up for it, and all that moisture is contributing to the heat index — and the mosquito problem. Later in the year, we'll be glad to have the water. Right now, not really.

The low was supposed to be 77°. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24649 and 24650. Yesterday's reading was 24619. My consumption was 30½ kWh.

June 24, 2015

We seem to be settling into a pattern. Yesterday's high was, once again, well into the 90s — and it was just a whisper below 90° an hour after the sun went down. The rest of the work week promises to be in the 96° range, but forecasters insist we'll be in the upper 80s this weekend.

Last night's low was expected to be a muggy 76°. The temperature was 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24619. Yesterday's reading was between 24580 and 24581. My consumption was 38½ kWh.

June 23, 2015

It is definitely summer in north Texas. The temperature was well into the 90s yesterday, and it was still in the mid–80s more than an hour after sunset.

Last night's low was expected to be 75°. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24580 and 24581. Yesterday's reading was between 24553 and 24554. Consumption was 27 kWh.

Monday, June 22, 2015

June 22, 2015

Once the rain ended, it turned out to be a fairly nice day yesterday. It was still hot, but not quite as hot as it has been, and it was overcast, but not really rainy after about 10 or 11 in the morning.

Last night's low was supposed to be in the mid–70s. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24553 and 24554. Saturday morning's reading was 24507. My consumption in the last couple of days averaged 23¼ kWh.

Sunday, June 21, 2015

June 21, 2015

It was muggy and the temperature probably got into the 90s again yesterday, but we had a brief storm in the evening that seemed to cool things down. It is raining again this morning — not heavily, but steadily — and I have no idea how long it has been raining.

Last night's temperature was supposed to be in the mid–70s. It was 76° when I woke up.

Because of the rain, I will skip shooting a photo of the meter this morning. I will try again tomorrow morning. Yesterday's reading was 24507.

Saturday, June 20, 2015

June 20, 2015

The temperature definitely got into the 90s yesterday. When I was driving home at the end of the day, the radio reported that the temperature was 94° so I'm sure it must have been at least a degree or two warmer than that at the hottest part of the day. The humidity made it feel like it was over 100°.

And the temperature stayed in the 90s until well after sunset.

Last night's low was expected to be 75°. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24507. Yesterday's reading was 24469. Consumption was 38 kWh.

Friday, June 19, 2015

June 19, 2015

The temperature was warmer yesterday. How much warmer, I do not know, but I do know it was warmer. And the rain was mostly gone, too. I think there were going to be isolated showers here and there but nothing heavy duty.

The forecast today calls for a high in the low 90s — but the humidity, thanks to all the rain we've been getting, will make it feel like 101°.

Last night's low was, once again, expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 76° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24469. Yesterday's reading was between 24444 and 24445. Consumption was 24½ kWh.

Thursday, June 18, 2015

June 18, 2015

Everyone was braced for rain yesterday, then the tropical storm from the Gulf of Mexico unexpectedly changed course, and the area was spared the drenching that was anticipated. Well, not entirely. It was raining early in the morning. Slowed down the morning commute considerably. I think it also managed to keep the temperature in the 80s.

Last night's low was expected to be around 73°. It was 75° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24444 and 24445. Tuesday's reading was 24407. That is an average of 18¾ kWh the last couple of days.

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

June 17, 2015

Yesterday was cooler than the day before, although it is hard for me to say by how much because I was indoors most of the day. We had occasional rain, though, and that was expected to keep the temperature down (although the humidity made up for it, I am sure).

The rain resumed during the night and is expected to continue today and tonight. Last night's low was expected to be around 74°. It was 75° when I woke up, and it isn't expected to be much warmer than that today.

It has been raining steadily since I got up so I won't take a picture of my meter this morning. Between all the rain we've had lately and this property's generally poor drainage, I'm sure there is at least an inch of standing water where my meter is. I will try again tomorrow. Yesterday's reading was 24407.

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

June 16, 2015

It was a little milder yesterday, helped along, no doubt, by spotty rain that didn't last long (much more is expected today and tomorrow) but probably helped keep the temperature down (at least when compared to the day before). The high was probably still in the 90s, but it wasn't as deeply into the 90s as it has been.

Once again, last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. That's a typical nighttime forecast for this time of year around here, but it has been more wishful thinking than reality lately. It was closer to that when I got up today than it has been recently, though — 76°.

This morning's meter reading is 24407. Yesterday's reading was between 24383 and 24384. My consumption was 23½ kWh.

Monday, June 15, 2015

June 15, 2015

Yesterday was a lot like the day before — including some rain in the afternoon. The rain didn't last as long or seem to bring the temperature down much, though.

Last night was like recent nights, I suppose. The low was expected to be in the mid–70s, but I don't know if it ever got quite that cool. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24383 and 24384. Yesterday's reading was 24349. My consumption was 34½ kWh.

Sunday, June 14, 2015

June 14, 2015

For about an hour and a half, maybe two hours yesterday, we got a pretty steady rain around here, which temporarily lowered the temperature to around 80°. Before that, it may have reached 90°. After the rain went through, the temperature went back up, but it seemed to cool off faster after sunset than it has tended to recently.

Last night's low was expected to be 75°. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24349. Yesterday's reading was about 24317. My consumption was 32 kWh.

Saturday, June 13, 2015

June 13, 2015

It wasn't quite as hot yesterday as it was the day before, but it was still in the 90s and remained in that vicinity until well after sunset. I slept later than usual today. What the hell? It's Saturday.

Last night's low was, again, expected to be in the mid–70s. It was around 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is about 24317. Yesterday's reading was 24283. My consumption was 34 kWh.

Friday, June 12, 2015

June 12, 2015

Yesterday was expected to be the hottest day of the year so far, and it wouldn't surprise me if that came to pass. The temperature was definitely in the 90s when I left work.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24283. Yesterday's reading was 24254. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 29 kWh.

Thursday, June 11, 2015

June 11, 2015

Yesterday was probably the warmest day of the year so far. Experience tells me July and August will have hotter days, but the humidity certainly made it feel hotter than it was.

When I left the office, the radio reported a temperature of 93°. I'm sure it was higher in the warmest part of the day. Forecasters say we will hit 95° today.

Last night's low was expected to be mid–70s, but it was barely below 90° when I went to bed. The temperature was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24254. Yesterday's reading was 24221. My consumption was 33 kWh.

June 10, 2015

You miss a lot when you spend your lunch hour in the office. On weekdays, I am in the office from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If the office blinds are closed, I won't know if anything is happening outside.

Nothing was happening in Plano yesterday, but, apparently, there was some rain for a time to the south of us — in other words, in the area where I live. And, as a matter of fact, after I got home, I saw some areas that suggested that there was, indeed, some rain on the apartment property.

The rain appears to have temporarily cooled things down a bit and may have kept temperatures from going into the 90s — but probably not by much. After the rain was over, the temperature apparently went up.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24221. Yesterday's reading was 24197. My consumption was 24 kWh.

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

June 9, 2015

There was no doubt about it yesterday. The temperature definitely got into the 90s.

And the pattern seems to be clear now. The temperature was still in the 80s when I went to bed. And, although forecasters said the low would be around 75°, it was 80° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24197. Yesterday's reading was 24171. My consumption was 26 kWh.

Monday, June 8, 2015

June 8, 2015

Yesterday seemed like a carbon copy of the day before. It was quitewarm, with a temperature that was in the 90s by lunchtime and stayed there until the sun went down.

Then the temperature lingered in the 80s until sometime after I went to bed.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24171. Yesterday's reading was 24127. Incredibly, that means my consumption in the last 24 hours was 44 kWh.

Sunday, June 7, 2015

June 7, 2015

The temperature got well into the 90s yesterday, as predicted. More of the same is expected today. In fact, I think we can expect this weather pattern to continue for the next four months, at least.

Nighttime lows are in the 70s now. Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–70s. It was 77° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24127. Yesterday's reading was between 24089 and 24090. My consumption was 37½ kWh.

Saturday, June 6, 2015

June 6, 2015

The temperature got into the 90s yesterday. Definitely. The radio reported it when I was driving home.

And it never really cooled off last night, either. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading appears to be between 24089 and 24090. Yesterday's reading was 24065. That means consumption was 24½ kWh.

Friday, June 5, 2015

June 5, 2015

Apparently, we have not had a 90° reading yet. When I got in my car to drive home yesterday afternoon, the temperature gauge in the car read 97°, but the radio said we were apt to have our first 90° day of the year by today.

I assume we made it to 89° yesterday. It was quite warm when I left the office.

Rain seems to be entirely out of the forecast until the middle of next week — when the chances currently are something like 30% that we will see a storm pop up.

Forecasts are for lows in the 70s. My guess is that lows in the 60s will be few and far between until next fall. It was 76° when I woke up this morning.

Only one picture came out today, and it isn't very good. I believe it says 24065. Yesterday's reading was 24040 so that would make my consumption in the last 24 hours 25 kWh.

Thursday, June 4, 2015

June 4, 2015

Yesterday was another warm, rain–free day. According to the radio when I left the office, we haven't quite reached 90° yet, but we should have our first 90° reading today or tomorrow.

I'm not sure if that is correct. The car thermostat said it was 93° when I left the office.

Last night's low was supposed to be around 71°. It was 74° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 24040. Yesterday's reading was between 24019 and 24020. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 20½ kWh.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015

June 3, 2015

I don't know if the temperature got up to 90° — or beyond — yesterday, but, if it didn't, it got close.

And, if the forecasters are right, we will definitely see temperatures of 90° or higher in the days ahead.

Rain is completely out of the forecast now. I predict that, before long, people around here will be wishing for rain. The recent floods will be distant memories.

Last night's low was expected to be 69°. It was 74° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 24019 and 24020. Yesterday's reading was 23997. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 22½ kWh.

Tuesday, June 2, 2015

June 2, 2015

Yesterday was sunny, and the temperature got into the 80s, although the day got off to kind of a cool start.

It isn't as cool this morning. Temperature was around 70° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 23997. Yesterday's reading was 23980. Consumption was 17 kWh.

Monday, June 1, 2015

June 1, 2015

Yesterday was very mild for the last day of May — even without much rain.

A gradual warming trend is expected this week, but it looks like it will be mostly mild early in the week. Today's high is expected to be in the low 80s, then mid– to upper 80s later in the week, possibly 90s by the weekend.

Last night's low was expected to be 61°, and it was exactly 61° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 23980. Yesterday's reading was between 23965 and 23966. My consumption since yesterday morning has been 14½ kWh.
