January 31, 2015

Yesterday was cooler than the day before, with highs in the 50s. It was overcast but no rain; that is expected today and tomorrow.

Last night's low was expected to be around 42°. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 21581. Yesterday's reading was 21560. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 21 kWh.

January 30, 2015

I suppose the forecasters were right. They said the high yesterday would be about 20° cooler than the day before, and I think yesterday's high turned out to be 60° — which was almost exactly 20° cooler than Wednesday.

They may have been right about last night's low, too. They said it would be around 40°. It was 44° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 21560. Yesterday's reading was between 21545 and 21546. Consumption in the last 24 hours was14½ kWh.

January 29, 2015

The temperature got to 80° yesterday. Well, that's what I heard. I spent most of the day inside.

But it was still warm when I left the office, and it was still warm when I went to bed (around 70°).

The forecast called for a low of 51°. It was 59° when I got up this morning.

A gradual cool wave is expected to descend upon the area starting today. It won't be exactly cold today, but it is expected to be about 20° cooler than it was yesterday, then 50s are in the forecast on Friday and 40s for the weekend.

This morning's meter reading is between 21545 and 21546. Yesterday's reading was between 21539 and 21540. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 6 kWh.

January 28, 2015

The temperature soared into the upper 70s yesterday, and more of the same is expected today. There is even talk of 80°! That is nearly 30° higher than normal for this time of year.

Last night's low was expected to be around 50°. It was 49° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 21539 and 21540. Yesterday's reading was 21532. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 7½ kWh.

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

January 27, 2015

The temperature rose into the 70s yesterday afternoon. It cooled off into the 60s after the sun went down, which is pretty nice for this time of year.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–40s. It was 45° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 21532. Yesterday's reading was 21524. My consumption in the last 24 hours dropped to 8 kWh.

Monday, January 26, 2015

January 26, 2015

It was mostly sunny and warm in the afternoon yesterday — bracketed by a rather chilly morning and a night that got colder than expected.

Yesterday's high was probably in the mid–60s. Last night's low was expected to be around 42°, I think, but it was 37° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 21524. Yesterday's reading was 21497. My consumption in the last 24 hours has been 27 kWh.

Sunday, January 25, 2015

January 25, 2015

The temperature yesterday rose into the 60s by midday, and much the same is expected tonight. In fact, conditions look to be quite pleasant until about Friday, when 50s are expected to return and a chance of rain inches back into the forecast Friday night and Saturday.

Last night's low was supposed to be around 40°, and I think that is about where it was when I woke up — although I got up later than usual this morning so I don't really know. What the heck? It is Sunday.

This morning's meter reading is 21497. Yesterday's reading was between 21463 and 21464. My consumption was 33½ kWh.

Saturday, January 24, 2015

January 24, 2015

The temperature got into the 50s for awhile yesterday, and the sun came out in the afternoon, but mostly it was kind of chilly. Of course, that is an impression that is based on rather limited information. I spent most of the day and a good part of the evening working.

They say our temperatures will be progressively warmer through the middle of next week, and it appears that the rain is out of the forecast for that time period as well. There is even talk of a temperature of 70° on Monday.

Last night's low was expected to be 34° It was 35° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 21463 and 21464. Yesterday's reading was 21418. Consumption in the last 24 hours was 45½ kWh.

January 23, 2015

I'm pretty sure the temperature stayed in the 40s yesterday. It was a cold, drizzly, at times windy day.

The rain eased up by the end of the day. The forecast called for rain, at times mixed with snow, during the night, but I have seen no evidence of that so far this morning. The temperature was 41° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 21418. Tuesday's reading was 21349. My consumption over the last three days was 69 kWh. That is an average of 23 kWh per day.

January 22, 2015

It's been raining all night and it is overcast today, which usually means virtually unreadable photos of my meter.

Drainage in this complex is really bad, too. When it rains like this, I usually have to stand in water to photograph my meter.

So I'm going to skip it today and leave for work a little earlier than normal.

It was cooler yesterday than it has been, and I expect it to be cooler still today and tomorrow.

Last night's low was expected to be in the mid–40s. It was 46° when I got up.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

January 21, 2015

The temperature was in the upper 60s, maybe low 70s, again yesterday, but, according to the forecasts, it is going to cool down considerably in the next few days.

Last night's low was expected to be in the low 40s. It was 46° when I woke up.

Actually, I overslept this morning, and I'm running a little late so there will be no meter photograph today.

January 20, 2015

Yesterday seems to have been a lot like recent days. The daytime high probably got into the low 70s, and the temperature last night was probably in the mid–40s.

I don't know precisely. I was inside working during most of the daylight hours, but the radio reported that it was in the upper 60s when I drove home last night.

This morning's meter reading is 21349. Yesterday's reading was 21336 so consumption in the last 24 hours was 13 kWh, about ½ kWh lower than the previous 24 hours.

Monday, January 19, 2015

January 19, 2015

I don't if the temperature got to 70° yesterday or not. I do know that it was a lot like the day before — relatively sunny although not as breezy.

I was indoors most of the day watching football so I don't really know how warm it got.

Last night's low was expected to be 44°. It was 45° when I got up.

This morning's meter reading is 21336. Yesterday's reading was between 21322 and 21323. That means consumption in the last 24 hours was 13½ kWh — nearly half what it was in the previous 24 hours.

January 18, 2015

I am pretty sure the temperature got into the 70s yesterday afternoon. It was warm and a little breezy, very pleasant for mid–January.

The temperature was expected to drop to 40° last night, then today's high was expected to be 65°. But they were forecasting mid–60s yesterday and, as I said, it was close to 70° if it didn't actually pass that barrier.

It turned out to be colder than expected last night. The temperature was 35° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 21322 and 21323. Yesterday's reading was between 21296 and 21297. Consumption in the last 24 hours has 26 kWh. That is an increase of about 8% over consumption in the previous 24 hours.

Saturday, January 17, 2015

January 17, 2015

The temperature rose into the 60s yesterday, and they are saying that we can expect that each day until the middle of next week.

Lows will be warmer, too — most likely in the 40s although it could drop into the upper 30s a time or two.

Last night's low was expected to be 45°. It was actually 44° when I woke up.

I know it is hard to read today's meter photo, but you can trust me — the reading is between 21296 and 21297. Yesterday's reading was between 21272 and 21273. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 24 kWh.

January 16, 2015

I'm back!

I believe the camera is up and running again so I'll calculate my daily average based on the readings from last Tuesday and today.

Fact is, there has been a certain consistency in the weather. It's been colder than normal, both at night and during the day, and overcast when it hasn't been raining. But we seem to be embarking on a warm spell that should last until about next Thursday, according to recent forecasts.

The sun actually came out yesterday, and the temperature rose into the 50s. Today and into next week, highs are expected to be in the 60s, then a gradual cooling trend will come along.

Last night's low was expected to be 34° — and that is exactly what the temperature was when I got up this morning.

This morning's reading is between 21272 and 21273. The reading last Tuesday was 20702. My consumption in the last 10 days was 570½ kWh, which is an average of 57 kWh per day.

Monday, January 12, 2015

January 12, 2015

The temperature got into the 40s yesterday. Same thing is expected today.

It was in the 40s when I woke up this morning — 31° — but I don't think there will be much variation today.

Hoping to resume taking meter pictures soon.

Sunday, January 11, 2015

January 11, 2015

Yesterday was cold and gray, even wet as the day went on. We may have gotten into the low 40s, but then it dropped into the 30s, where it stayed until this morning.

Temperatures should be gradually warmer this week. Forecast says we could be seeing 60s by Saturday.

I'm still having trouble with my camera, and I may have to suspend this blog until I can get a new one.

January 10, 2015

I'm still trying to resolve my problems with my camera. Haven't had much time for it today. I had to take my car in for maintenance and wound up spending nearly five hours at the dealership.

Anyway, yesterday was cold, but not as cold as the day before. It was in the 30s all day and all night. Fortunately, the freezing precipitation that was mentioned several days ago left the picture, and it looks like we may be able to avoid it altogether this weekend. Maybe.

Rain and freezing rain are in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, but it is supposed to warm up enough tomorrow afternoon to keep the roads from being icy.

Again, we'll see.

January 9, 2015

Still having trouble with my camera. Hope to have it resolved by tomorrow.

Anyway, yesterday was probably the coldest day we've had in a year. The overnight lows were in the teens and the daytime highs were in the 30s. Thankfully, though, the wind wasn't close to being as strong as it was the day before.

Last night's low was supposed to be around freezing. It was 34° when I woke up.

Looks like the prediction for freezing rain has been pushed back to tomorrow night and Sunday — but even if it materializes, the temperature should rise above freezing Sunday and remain above freezing, both at night and during the day, into next week.

Thursday, January 8, 2015

January 8, 2015

I'm having problems with my digital camera again. Hopefully, it will be cleared up by the weekend.

The temperature never got out of the 30s yesterday, and the wind that came through the area yesterday afternoon must have lowered the wind chill to the teens.

The temperature actually did drop into the teens overnight as predicted. It was 18° when I woke up.

If there is any good news today, it is that the slight chance of freezing rain that was in the forecast for the weekend seems to have left the forecast now.

Tuesday's reading was 20702.

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

January 7, 2015

I was running late this morning so I didn't photograph my meter. I will try to do it tomorrow.

The temperature was in the upper 50s yesterday. That&aapos;s as good as it is gonna get for awhile.

Forecasts are calling for highs in the 30s with a chance for rain, freezing rain, even snow late in the week.

Last night's low was expected to be 30°. It was 35° when I woke up.

It should be even colder in the nights ahead.

Yesterday's reading was 20702.

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

January 6, 2015

The temperature rose to the mid–40s yesterday, and today's high is expected to be in the 50s. After that, though, it should be much colder.

Last night's low was expected to be around freezing. It was 33° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 20702. Yesterday's reading was between 20644 and 20645. My consumption was 57½ kWh.

Monday, January 5, 2015

January 5, 2015

It was cold and windy yesterday. I don't think the temperature got out of the 30s. But it was clear and sunny so, when the blinds were open, the apartment actually managed to stay warm at times.

Last night was expected to be quite cold. Forecasters called for a low of 22°. It was cold last night but apparently not quite as cold as anticipated. It was 26° when I got up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20644 and 20645. Yesterday's reading was 20578. Consumption was 66½ kWh.

Sunday, January 4, 2015

January 4, 2015

Yesterday turned out to be more pleasant than just about anyone expected, I think. The temperature flirted with the mid–50s during the afternoon.

It turned cold overnight, of course. Forecasters told us to expect lows around 28°. It was 34° when I woke up, but it has dropped about six degrees since then.

Forecasters say it won't be much warmer than mid–30s today. They only predict a high today of 36°.

This morning's meter reading is 20578. Yesterday's reading was between 20534 and 20535. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 43½ kWh. That is more than 9% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Saturday, January 3, 2015

January 3, 2015

Yesterday was cold, gray and drizzly. It got into the low 40s yesterday afternoon and stayed there until well after dark. But, apparently, it didn't drop a whole lot.

According to forecasters, today will be the warmest day we'll have in the week ahead — and it is only expected to be in the low 50s.

The cloud cover has been expected to keep temperatures pretty constant. Last night's low was expected to be 40°. As it turned out, that was the temperature when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20534 and 20535. Yesterday's reading was between 20486 and 20487 so my consumption was 48 kWh. That is nearly 23% lower than the previous 24 hours.

Friday, January 2, 2015

January 2, 2015

The temperature definitely stayed below 40° yesterday. It should be a little warmer today.

Actually temperatures are expected to stay constant for the next few days.Apparently, the cloud cover will have that effect. We had light rain yesterday; the forecast simply calls for rain today. How heavy it will be remains to be seen.

It was supposed to be a few degrees above freezing last night. It was 38° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 20486 and 20487. Yesterday's reading was between 20424 and 20425. My consumption in the last 24 hours was 62 kWh.

Thursday, January 1, 2015

January 1, 2015

The year went out on a cold, gray note. I frankly doubt that the temperature rose above 40°, and, after midnight, light rain entered the area.

So 2015 is off to a gray and drizzly start.

Last night's low was expected to be around freezing, possibly turning the rain into ice, but it is a few degrees above freezing right now.

This morning's meter reading is between 20424 and 20425. Yesterday's reading was between 20353 and 20354 so consumption was 71 kWh. That is nearly 34% higher than the previous 24 hours.
