July 31, 2016

Yesterday was another hot, upper 90s kind of day. It might have gone into triple digits. I don't really know.

And, although the low last night was expected to be in the upper 70s, it was 82° when I woke up.

This morning's reading is 32862. Yesterday's reading was between 32812 and 32813. Consumption was 50½ kWh.

It was a little overcast yesterday, but mostly it was back to hot and sunny. Even so, it wasn't quite as hot when I drove home as it usually has been in the last month or two.

It was still hot, though. The radio reported a temperature of 94° when I left the office.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. It was 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32812 and 32813. Yesterday's reading was 32782. Consumption was 30½ kWh.

July 29, 2016

We had some overcast moments yesterday afternoon but no rain. When I was driving home, the radio reported a temperature of 96°.

Last night's low was expected to be around 79°. It was 78° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading appears to be 32782. Yesterday's reading was between 32757 and 32758. Consumption was 24½ kWh.

July 28, 2016

I don't know what yesterday's high temperature was, but a storm front moved through the area in the middle of the afternoon, dumped some rain and brought the temperature down. The radio said it was 88° when I was driving home.

Things should be more summerlike this weekend.

Last night's low was expected to be 76°. It was 80° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32757 and 32758. Yesterday's reading was between 32732 and 32733. Consumption was 25 kWh.

July 27, 2016

The skies were overcast for awhile yesterday, but we didn't get rain this time. It felt warmer when I left the office than it did the day before, and the radio more or less confirmed that when it was said that the temperature was 98°, but I didn't think it was quite that hot.

Anyway, last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32732 and 32733. Yesterday's reading was 32704. Consumption was 28½ kWh.

July 26, 2016

Forecasters said we could expect a temperature in the mid–90s yesterday. I was in the office all day so I don't know what it was like earlier, but some rain came through the area in the midafternoon, and it sure felt like it was in the 80s when I left the office, but the radio reported the temperature was 94°.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s again. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 32704. Yesterday's reading was 32683. Consumption was 21 kWh.

I know yesterday's temperature got into the upper 90s, but I don't know if we cracked triple digits. Forecasters believe we will have potentially stormy conditions today that might bring the temperature down into the mid–90s. We will see.

Last night's low was expected to be 79°. It was 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 32683. Yesterday's reading was 32634. Consumption was 49 kWh.

Once again, the odds are that we hit triple digits. If we didn't, we probably came very close.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. It was 84° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 32634. Yesterday's reading was 32595. Consumption was 39 kWh.

I did something today I almost never do. I slept late.

I never heard what yesterday's high temperature was, but it was another scorcher. Forecasts called for triple digits, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got there.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. Because I slept so late, I couldn't say if we came close. It was in the upper 80s when I got up.

This morning's meter reading is 32595. Yesterday's reading was between 32542 and 32543. Consumption was52½ kWh since the last time I checked the meter.

Yesterday was another scorcher. Once again, we flirted with triple digits. I don't know if we actually reached 100°, but if we didn't, we came close.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. It was 82° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32542 and 32543. Yesterday's reading was 32503. Consumption was 39½ kWh.

July 21, 2016

If we didn't hit 100° yesterday, we came close. And forecasters are confident that we will hit 100° for the next few days.

Nighttime low forecasts are pretty much the same. Expectations are for lows right around 80°. It was 83° when I woke up this morning.

This morning's meter reading is 32503. Yesterday's reading was between 32458 and 32459. Consumption was 44½ kWh.

Yesterday's high was expected to be in the upper 90s, and I am sure it was. On the surface it was just another hot summer day in Dallas with no rain in sight.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 82° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32458 and 32459. Yesterday's reading was 32417. Consumption was 41½ kWh.

Yesterday's high was expected to be in the upper 90s, and it probably was. I spent most of the first day of my vacation indoors. As always, though, it was hot whenever I ventured outside.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 32417. Yesterday's reading was 32376. Consumption was 41 kWh.

I slept later than usual today so there is a larger gap between meter readings. But it all balances out by the end of the month.

Yesterday was hot, already in the 90s before lunch. It probably got close to 100° — higher than that with the heat index. More of the same appears to be in our future for the next week — and, I expect, the next couple of months or so.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 83° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32336 and 32337. Yesterday's reading was 32302. Consumption was 34½ kWh.

Saturday, July 16, 2016

July 16, 2016

A storm front moved through the area and cooled things down a bit. Consequently, it wasn't as hot when I left the office as I figured it would be when the day began. Forecasts had been calling for highs in the upper 90s when I left my apartment, but the temperature was in the lower 90s when I left the office.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s, but it was in the mid–70s when I woke up.

From my office window, each day looks pretty much the same unless it rains. Then the intensity of the rain (or, rarely, snow) may vary wildly, but mostly we have sunny days and, from inside, it is hard to tell what the temperature is.

These days I can be sure that each sunny day takes us into the 90s. How high the temperature goes tends to vary, but it's usually in that range. Yesterday, as I was driving home, the radio reported a temperature of 95°. A high of 97° had been predicted. Forecasters say we can expect 98°, maybe 99° for highs the rest of the week.

All I know is, it's hot.

Last night's low was expected to be in the upper 70s. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32214 and 32215. Yesterday's reading was between 32185 and 32186. Consumption was 29 kWh.

Yesterday started out hot and humid — upper 90s for sure — but some rain came through the area late in the afternoon and brought the temperature down into the 80s — even upper 70s by evening. Never fear, the forecasters say. We will be back in the 90s the rest of this week.

I guess it was cooler overnight, if only by a couple of degrees. It was 76° when I woke up. I miss the nights when lows were in the 50s and 60s. We have too few of those around here.

This morning's meter reading is 32123. Yesterday's reading was 32090. Consumption was 33 kWh.

Yesterday was another hot, humid day in Dallas. The radio reported that the temperature was 96° when I was driving home last night. According to the forecasts, that is what we can expect for at least the next week — and I am guessing that, with perhaps the very occasional exception, it is what we can expect until October.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 32065 and 32066. Yesterday's reading was 32033. Consumption was 32½ kWh.

I'm not sure if we have hit actual triple digits in our temperatures around here yet — we have certainly shattered that glass ceiling in the heat index on multiple occasions — but if we haven't, we've been getting close. And it seems it will stay that way for awhile. The radio said the temperature was 96° when I was driving home yesterday. Forecasters say today's high will be 98°, and the forecast for the next week is a mix of 96° and 97° days.

Last night's low was expected to be around 80°. It was 79° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 32033. Yesterday's reading was 32006. Consumption was 27 kWh.

Last night's low was expected to be near 80°. It was actually 81° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is between 31897 and 31898. Yesterday's reading was 31859. Consumption was 38½ kWh.

(Note: This has been posted out of sequence because I was interrupted while writing it on Sunday and forgot that I had not posted it. I just realized my mistake.)

Rain unexpectedly moved into the area overnight, and I awoke this morning to rainfall. It wasn't heavy, but it was steady. Yesterday's temperature soared into the upper 90s, and the humidity made it feel like triple digits.

But it cooled down a bit overnight. Forecasters said the temperature would be in the upper 70s, but it was 73° when I woke up.

This morning's meter reading is 31946. Yesterday's reading was between 31897 and 31898. Consumption was 48½ kWh.
