May 18, 2012

I communicated with my apartment manager by e–mail yesterday, and she assured me everything had been straightened out.

As expected, it got rather warm around here yesterday, and my electric consumption reflected that, as you can see from today's photo.

This morning's reading is 2685. Yesterday's reading was 2659. That's 26 kWH.

It is worth pointing out that, since I started monitoring my meter on a daily basis nearly seven weeks ago, I have only used 30 kWH or more in a 24–hour period on a couple of occasions — when the weather got extreme.

To be sure, I expect the weather in Texas to become extreme in the summer. Sometimes, if we're lucky, it doesn't remain extreme for too long, and it settles back into just plain unpleasant. But most of the time, extreme temperatures are with us far too long.

So I'm sure I'll be using 30 kWh — or more — daily at some point in the near future.

But not yet.

And I would appreciate it if the utility billing company keeps that in mind.

But I expect another round of fiction with the next utility bill.
